Things to do

The River Lot is very tranquil and ideal for such sports as canoeing and fishing. Both are available just two minutes from the cottages. For those seeking the more active lifestyle, there is tennis, horse riding, rock climbing and many marked cycle and walking routes, as well as museums, ancient churches, caves and charming villages. For a more restful pace, walks around the local markets, shops, or even a vineyard may be just the thing, followed by a visit to one of the cafes, great for just sitting and watching the world go by!

Just across the river from the cottages, there's a swimming pool, ideal for those hot summer days.

Why not let us know your interests before you arrive, and let us help you make the most of your time in the region? Below are some ideas to get you started.

Randonnee (walking)

There are many local walking clubs with walks to suit all levels, from one hour to two days or more! We are more than happy to help you get started with local clubs where you will receive a warm welcome.

Cycling

Many of the walking routes are ideal for off road (VTT) mountain biking, where you can explore the beautiful countryside. If you prefer road biking then the roads here are surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vines, with many places to stop for lunch. The Tour de France often passes close by or through the area.

Canoeing The River Lot offers easy family paddling on trips of varying distance. These journeys can take a matter of a few hours or up to a whole day (or more!). Canoes and safety equipment can be hired locally in Puy l'Eveque. For those more daring, the River Cele is faster flowing and idea for a day out.

Rock climbing

Being a limestone valley, the Lot River has a number of crags equipped with bolted sport routes of varying difficulty. For experienced climbers with their own equipment, there is a local topo guide to these climbing venues available from local tourist offices.

Vineyard wine tours

Surrounded by nearly 200 AOC Cahors vineyards, you are never more than a stone's throw from a degustation, somewhere to taste and buy your wine. The tourist office even has a map to guide you to each one, where you can buy a bottle or two, or as many locals do, five litres to take home and bottle yourself! Each producer has a range of vintages for you to try on the spot and will take great pleasure in sharing their know-how and love of their wines with you.

Markets

Each season brings charm and character to the local markets. For those that love markets, especially food markets, there's one almost everyday of the week! Local farmers, bring their fresh produce to sell and there's a vibrant atmosphere, get there early to get the best buys!

...And close by, winter skiing

With moderate winter temperatures in the Lot valley and the Pyrenees and Andorra being just over three and a half hours away, why not steal a few days with us and then head off to cruise the pistes?
